Therapeutic Classroom
The Therapeutic Alternative Education program provides a small class setting and individualized educational and counseling supports. Students in this program will have educational services provided by a certified teacher through the Intermediate Unit #5. Counseling services provided by a masters level counselor include case management to link families to insurance coverage, physical, and mental health services as needed. In the classroom, the students will also work on developing coping skills, emotional regulation and social skills. This program is designed to be preventative, meaning, that students in this classroom may not need additional supports and could quickly return to their regular school. Alternatively, students transitioning successfully from other mental health programs but needing a transitional period could also benefit from this classroom.
