Recreation Center

Our population of children and youth have come from various walks of life, however for the majority of them those walks include trauma from situations that most couldn’t begin to fathom. When they arrive at Bethesda, they are faced with another set of new circumstances and all they are searching for is something that we take for granted every day, normalcy. Our agency strives to make sure our children and youth have all the opportunities that they can to have fun and socialize, allowing them to have the normalcy they so desire. We have a gym, a pool, playground and such, but during the pandemic we found something that was missing; a large, safe, indoor space. Our leadership team, and our boards, seeing the need, decided that we needed to act and build an indoor recreation center. This new recreation center will house a Game Room, Changing rooms for our on-campus Cozy Pool, a Stage, and a full Movie Theater! This unique building will provide ample space for our youth to have fun, socialize, hold events, and host in person family meetings, all indoors, and with social distancing measures in mind. Our residential youth will be able to watch movies in theater room, play all sorts of board games and video games in the game room, and one might argue most importantly the space will provide a place for our children to meet and visit with their families when they come to visit, all while keeping everyone safe.

Although we all hope and pray that this pandemic comes to an end, this rec center will ensure that we are prepared. We are so thankful and excited to be building this indoor space right on our campus that will keep everyone safe and socially distant when needed, no matter what comes our way!
