Drug & Alcohol Prevention Specialist | Part time position

Job Summary:

Plan, implement, and direct drug and alcohol programming to youth and their families in the Residential Specialized Settings and PRTF programs. 


  1. Participates in required treatment meetings as needed for each youth. 
  2. Plans for continuing care of youth with recommendations to youth’s treatment team to include treatment referrals and recommendations at time of discharge.
  3. Intervenes appropriately in crisis situations.
  4. Provides coverage for other programs as needed
  5. Complete and maintain approved, required initial and yearly Department of Drug & Alcohol Program (DDAP) trainings as needed.


Professional Responsibilities:

1.   Understand and fulfill job duties within the scope of the mission statement.

2.   Adhere to the policies and procedures of the agency.

3.   Establish and maintain professional relationships with all agency personnel, youth, families, and outside agencies.

4.   Meet with supervisor for one-on-one supervision to discuss expectations and job duties.

5.   Fulfill training requirements as outlined in the Staff Development policy.

                                               

 Required Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:     

1.   Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive demeanor during periods of increased demands on time and attention from multiple sources.

2.   Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and written. This includes the ability to converse with youth and families of various socioeconomic backgrounds in a professional manner.

3.   Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues and prevention strategies including the ability to maintain a high level of understanding of current trends affecting youth and families.

4.   Ability to plan, organize and lead individual and group activities.

5.   Ability to speak to a wide audience in a public venue effectively.


Required Education, Experience, and Clearances:

  1. Master's degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree required in field that meets the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs staffing qualification regulations, such as Addiction Counselors, Substance Abuse Counselors, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC), Prevention Specialists.
  2. Experience in a mental health or drug and alcohol professional setting

3.   Experience working with children and families required.

4.   FBI, Child Abuse History, PA State Police, and Driver Clearances. Other clearances required depending on residency status.


Experience:

  • Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)


Salary: $22-$26 per Hour
